A Visit To Little House Wayside

A Visit To Little House Wayside

A Visit To Little House WaysideOn our way to my appointment yesterday in Stockholm, Wisconsin, we made a stop at Little House Wayside. We are in the midst of Ingalls territory around our area and Mom wanted to see this cabin home. It is where Laura Ingalls was born back in 1867. Actually the original home is no longer there, but this cabin is built as a replica of the original home.

My GBGV Life doing the daily workThey have people at the site during the summer months doing things that the Ingalls would have done when they were living there back in the 1800’s. Behind me they were doing laundry and cooking something to eat over the fire. They are also dressed in the clothing style from that time period.

My GBGV Life grinding stationThis station is where they were grinding things such as corn to help aid them in preparing foods like bread. Of course, the lime green picnic tables were not here originally, but I do like them as they are my color!

A Visit To Little House Wayside the cabin replicaFinally, we have the little cabin. A lot of the workers had gathered inside and Mom didn’t want to go inside when they were all there. It is crazy to think of a family in such a small space but at the time that was normal. Maybe one day we will go visit Walnut Grove in Minnesota and see what things they have there. This was a fun, quick history lesson for me and Mom.

My GBGV Life is joining Comedy Plus for Awww Monday.
