We made a pit stop at Sunnyvale Park in Wausau, Wisconsin on our way to Green Bay. It is about three hours from our house and a good place to take a walk. The trail around the lake is just over one and a half miles long making it about a half hour walk.
It is a peaceful and beautiful little lake. Being a Saturday there were more people out and about but still it didn’t feel crowded. Once we passed the beach area, we didn’t run into anyone else out walking.
One part of the trail is mowed grass which we like. Asphalt trails can be so hot on a sunny day. We much prefer grass or dirt under our paws.
We found some pretty little daisies along our walking path.
Lots of kids were out in and on the water since it was quite warm in the sunshine. What a great way to spend a summer day for families.
There is a fishing pier for those fishy people. We didn’t go down to it as we didn’t want to disturb them.
Walking around the lake one experiences open fields, some slightly shady areas and then the woods. Every so often there are paths down to the water.
Ever since we almost pulled Mom into the Rock River in Rockford, she is careful near water with us. If there is much of a hill, we are not going there. If we sit nice, then we can take a photo. Behind us on the left is a swing for kids to use to fly into the lake. We are not water dogs and don’t have any interest in getting wet so we stayed away from the water. That last part, getting back to our car, was full sun and hot. It was a good walk, nice to stretch a bit, and we were set for the last ninety minutes of the drive. We are thankful for a relaxing trip to Green Bay since the drive is pretty short. Usually we have long days of driving and no time for much stopping.
