Meet adoptable deaf one year old Australian Shepherd Rango who is looking for a special home with someone who will cherish him, make positive reinforcement training/enrichment a priority and a commitment to always keeping him safe.

Rango -KY – Deaf Dogs Rock

From his advocate: Rango is deaf and has impaired vision
When we initially brought him home as a puppy we did not know he was deaf or had impaired vision. We tried to learn and figure this out the best we could and unfortunately we can’t make this work sadly I have been trying for a year, it hurts because I have tried everything I can think of I could do at home but I can’t afford special training and I don’t have the help I need as I wish I did because he really is the sweetest baby. I feel like I have failed him because I cannot figure this out and I think the only thing I can figure out is finding someone who better fits his needs, I want what is best for him and I feel as if he would flourish in a new home without a lot of activity in the home with no other animals.

He is a very sweet and well mannered dog outside of our home, he does get overly excited on walks sometimes and resorts to biting(because he is overly excited he doesn’t exactly know what to do I think so that is what he resorts to). Inside the home he struggles with completing potty training while in his crate during bedtime hours or while we’re away from the house.
He really only has pee accidents in the crate. But he has not had any accidents in the home out of the crate.
He cannot be left out of the crate unattended as of this time because he will destroy quite a bit even with having interactive toys and such, he does not like to be left alone.
He is very food motivated for training.
He would do best in a home with no other dogs or cats. He is friendly with our 2 current adult dogs (3-4 years old) but is too rough and bites too hard causing the other animals to not want to be around him.
He loves children outside the home but in our yard or home he gets overly excited and likes to play bite, does not draw blood or leave marks but it hurts, he has not been aggressive at all there is a difference.
He is very outgoing with people sometimes a little shy at first but usually happy to meet every new person!
He is very active and energetic we go on multiple walks a day and he loves interactive toys and plastic bottles for whatever reason because he can’t hear them lol.
He has been having allergies since spring hit, he has been on medicine off and on from our vet, we are unsure what it is from besides maybe seasonal allergies because it was not a problem previously until this year.
He is a sweet dog and he deserves the best and I am looking to find the best fit for him and his special needs!

His adoption fee is $250 to a screened and approved home only and you must live within 2.5 to 3 hours from Central City Kentucky to be considered for his adoption. We are looking for a person or family to come and meet him at least once and spend some quality time with him to make sure he will be a good fit for  your life situation.
