This loveable chap is Dexter, a medium to large size, 6 year old, GSD mix who has a tan, short coat and black masked face.
Dexter is much smaller than a traditional GSD, as you can see by the videos and also the videos show how friendly he is and how popular in a group of dogs that live together.

Dexter is our priority, he’s not pretty or cute but he’s handsome and has a big, loving heart so we are desperate to help him find a new home. Unfortunately, he is one of three dogs we are helping urgently, because he has had his ears cruelly cut, so it’s crucial we bring him to the UK as soon as possible before the laws change to ban dogs with cropped ears.

Dexter is great with male and female dogs and loves all people. He is quite independent and not the type of dog to want cuddles all of the time.  He has a fantastic character. He would not be good with cats due to how fixated he is with them. Children we think over 12 years.

Dexter has been tested as having low level Leish and is responding very well to his inexpensive treatment. A packet of tablets for one month is just £3 and of course Leish is not transferable to dogs or people. Dexter is neutered, chipped, vaccinated, and has his passport, so he is ready to travel as soon as he is offered a foster place or an adoption.

  • Adopting A DogWatch UK Rescue Dog:
  • Homecheck:
  • For Rescue Dogs coming from overseas:
  • Adoption Fee: £
Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young, then the new owners will need to ensure this is done and proof sent to us once complete. All dogs are microchipped

All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. DogwatchUk does this on your behalf so that we know that its been done.

All our adoptions are subject to successful homechecks which are carried out via a video call. There is now a deposit for all homechecks of £25 which is deducted from the adoption fee.
The adoption fee is paid via bank transfer to the UK (or Paypal) and covers the cost of passport, bloods, microchip, vaccines and neutering (if over 6 months) also transport costs/taxes from Spain to the UK.
If you are adopting a UK dog then the process is still the same but there will be no bloods or passport or transport costs.
If the homecheck fails the £25 will be reimbursed.
If the application is withdraw after the homecheck this is non refundable.
Our checker will be given your details to contact you. All homechecks are now conducted virtually and will be undertaken via video call (using skype, zoom or equivalent).
We will need to meet ALL members of the family living at the address, including children.
Proof of ID and landlord permission (if applicable) is required

This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including
– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.

We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.

Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.

Paid to the Spanish rescue via UK bank account
