Meet Vroula, a small size kokoni cross.
Vroula is one of the 27 dogs rescued from a hoarding case back in October, and her story is one of quiet progress and gentle bravery.
She is still a very shy girl, but slowly, step by step, she is learning that the world doesn’t have to be so scary. Handling her has become much easier, and although she still keeps her distance in the playground, we are starting to see little flashes of curiosity.
Every now and then, she will come a bit closer for a treat or even allow a gentle cuddle from the children — small moments that feel huge for a dog like Vroula.
She is more wary of men than women and will need time to build trust, patience truly is key with her.
She is not yet walking on a lead, so she currently needs to be carried, but even here we see improvement as she becomes more comfortable with each passing week.
Vroula will need a calm, quiet home with patient adopters who understand that trust cannot be rushed. A home without too much pressure, where she can go at her own pace and continue building confidence.
Another calm, confident dog could really help show her the way.
She may not be the dog who runs straight into your arms on day one… but with time, kindness, and love, Vroula will get there. And when she does, it will be something very special.
