Meet Peru a 5 year old medium size terrier cross boy.
Peru is one of the 27 dogs we rescued last October from a heartbreaking hoarding situation, and his little body tells a story no dog should ever have to live through.
He is covered in scars… countless reminders of the life he endured, likely from repeated attacks and a complete lack of protection. While his wounds have healed on the outside, it’s clear that inside, he is still learning how to feel safe.
And yet, despite everything, Peru is the gentlest soul.
He is a sweet, sensitive boy who just needs time to understand that the world is no longer a place he needs to fear. He has already made beautiful progress.
He will walk on a lead, even if it’s not his favourite thing, and once he reaches the playground, you can see a different side of him — a dog who wants to enjoy life, who finds small moments of happiness.
Peru finds comfort in other dogs and will often look to them for reassurance. Sometimes, he still needs a little help — we even carry him outside on harder days — but that only shows how much he is trying.
Peru is looking for a very special home. A quiet, calm environment with patient people who will give him the time and space he needs to heal. A home with another kind, friendly dog will make a world of difference for him.
He may carry scars from his past, but they do not define him.
