The world is into videos but Mom and we hounds really enjoy good still sniffing photos from our trials. Over time, it seems there are less photographers to take them but we are thankful whenever we can get some good photos. These photos are from my trial in June at the Scott County Fairgrounds. It was my last search of the day but I was ready to get sniffin’.
This search was in the cattle barn with a dirt floor. I took off real fast but it is because I smelled the hide on that post in the photo from the start. The faster I find hides, the faster my snacks hit my mouth!
I then slowed down, trying to find another hide. This search had four hides and they told us so I knew I needed three more.
Ah ha…I found hide number two! Mom always loves how excited I get when I find a hide. We both have the same expressions in this picture.
I did some random searching trying to locate another hide and realized there were several converging together that I needed to separate.
And yes, there is one on the chair which was also converging with the one on the garage door that I found last but didn’t get a photo of it.
The judge told us we did a fabulous job which is what Mom is focusing on. Only ten of the thirty dogs found all four, and we were the fourth fastest to find them all.
Leaving a search happy is always the best! Once we are outside I know I get the other snacks that Mom gives me as we go back to our car.
In contrast, this was one of my morning searches and it was a disaster. It started out well, I was ready to go.
Like my other search, I smelled the odor right from the start and went right to it. The hide was in the hose. As for the rest of the seven total hides, we prefer to forget about most of them. On the day I had one excellent, two good, and one bad search. It happens and I’m young still. We sniff to win but we also sniff because we have so much fun and working as a team is something very special. The photos are something we will always treasure! Thank you Tammy Taylor for photographing this trial.
