Meet adoptable deaf seven year old English Pointer Patchee who is currently on the search for a new loving forever home.

From her rescue advocare: Socialization: Patchee loves everyone she meets and readily approaches people for petting. She has met men, women, and children as young as 8 years old. Likewise, she has not yet met a dog (male or female) that she did not like. Cats are unknown but can be tested if needed.
Training: Patchee is deaf, so training for her is a little bit different. She responds readily to most hand signals. She is well-behaved and comfortable in the house and loves cuddling on the couch with her human.
Crate trained: Patchee understands that this is her safe place and does not resist going into her crate. She is crated during the night in my bedroom and sleeps through the night. While I am away, she is also crated.

Leash trained: Patchee walks very nicely on a leash with a harness. Initially, she may need a correction but quickly understands that she is supposed to walk beside you. When we encounter wildlife distractions, or other dogs, one quick correction gets her attention back to you.
Activity level/requirements: Patchee loves to run loose in the backyard chasing birds. She also enjoys her walks. We walk about a half mile at least once a day, though she would prefer two walks. With proper exercise, she settles down nicely for a nap or cuddles.
Fence requirements: A barrier fence would be a requirement for Patchee. I have 6’ fencing, partially constructed of cinder block and metal vertical slats. She enjoys looking through the fence. It is unknown if she would challenge a shorter fence. Due to her deafness, a dog park is not recommended for her.

Personality: Patchee is a sweet, silly Setter. She is bright, curious, sassy and gentle. She loves cuddles and petting. It is clear that Patchee is not accustomed to brushing but she tolerates it. She also passively allows me to Dremel her nails. She just learning what toys are and frequently play-bows and barks at them. She just wants to be with her human and follows me wherever I go.
Health history: UTD on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She had a dental and a couple of small masses removed in January, she lost some teeth and the masses were benign. Patchee did have a sensitive stomach and was on prescription food but that issue has been resolved and she is now on a regular diet.

Foster comments: Patchee has been just as good as gold. She is a happy, funny, confident girl and is looking for a home where she will be understood and can continue to blossom.
