Meet adoptable deaf dog Smokey who is currently looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish him, become his new best friend, teach him cool new sign cues and always keep him safe.

Smokey is a 1-year-old American Bully with a story that’s already proven just how strong and special he is—and now he’s looking for a forever home to write his next chapter.
This handsome boy may have some extra needs, but don’t let that fool you—Smokey is full of love, personality, and resilience. He is deaf, partially blind, and a proud tripod after having one of his front legs amputated—but he has adapted beautifully and doesn’t let anything slow him down. In fact, he still has plenty of playful, bouncy puppy energy!

Smokey is a total sweetheart. He loves being close to his people and is happiest as a snuggly lap dog, soaking up affection and attention. He’s been raised in a home environment and thrives in a calm, cozy setting where he can relax, explore, and feel safe.

Because of his special needs, Smokey will require an experienced and patient adopter. Training a deaf dog takes commitment, consistency, and creativity—using visual cues, touch, and positive reinforcement. He’s food-motivated, which is a great tool for training, but he’s still learning his manners and can be a bit mouthy and playful (he especially thinks leashes are toys!).
Smokey does well with other dogs and enjoys playing appropriately, though a dog-to-dog meet is recommended to ensure compatibility. He has shown some sensitivity with certain handling, especially when startled or in unfamiliar situations, so it’s important that his adopter understands his boundaries and helps him feel secure.
