Meet adoptable deaf one year old boxer Roscoe who is looking for a loving forever home with a dog savvy person willing to put in the work to do daily positive reinforcement training/socialization/enrichment, provide leadership and structure and always keep him safe.

Roscoe – ME – Deaf Dogs Rock

From his rescue advocate: White w/ black spot, NM, 1 year old active boy. Does have a tail and is DEAF.
His owners did not know he was deaf and came to us saying that “He was untrainable” and didn’t listen. Once we figured out he was deaf we did offer some behavior help and medical help, as this guy could not control himself, he was very impulsive jumping, grabbing at clothes, pupils fully dilated, eyes red rimmed, panting, he was obviously over aroused. Our vet team thought maybe a long term medication would help him to come down a little so that he could actually learn and pay attention.

He is treat motivated and eager to learn, enjoys going for walks and exploring the world around him. Can use some work on his leash manners.
His owners did not seek help, instead they dumped him in another state to fend for himself.
Thank fully another shelter took him in and then transported him to us.
He is a good boy who could learn some basic manners and have someone in his life who understands him and is willing to help him through his behavior issues (leash biting, and jumping). He has shown that he prefers men, but does do fine with women as well. Our staff are working with him daily on going in and out of the kennel, as he does not want to go back into it. He will put the brakes on and doesn’t move.
So far we have seen no reaction to other dogs in pens around him or walking by. Seems to enjoy car rides as well. If you are interested in adopting Roscoe, please fill out and adoption application by clicking here.
