Milky is a gentle, joyful soul who just happens to be deaf. Born and raised in a loving home, he’s had a wonderful start to life filled with kindness, structure, and plenty of play. He spent a year with his first mom at Carrol College in their Anthrozoology Canine program. He learned many skills and had great socialization with humans and other dogs Now, he’s ready to find a forever family who will continue to guide him with patience, love, and consistent positive reinforcement.

He rides well in the car (no motion sickness!), happily tucked in a padded crate in the back or on the front seat. Milky’s ideal home will continue to provide enriching experiences, gentle structure, and plenty of adventures while always keeping his safety top of mind. Consistency will be key as he transitions to a new environment and learns new routines and signals. Though he is only 1 year old he has the ability to hold focus and loves learning

Skills & Training
Because deaf dogs look with their hearts and their eyes, Milky has become a master communicator. He is highly focused, eager to please, and already knows multiple hand signals. He watches his human closely for direction, making him an absolute joy to work with. His early socialization and training foundation mean he is ready to seamlessly step into an active, engaged home. Thanks to formal involvement with his first mom at the Carroll College Anthrozoology Canine program in Montana, Milky has benefited from advanced behavioral insights and structured, positive-reinforcement training. He’s highly food- and toy-motivated, making him a fun and eager training partner, who looks to us for cues . While he can’t hear, Milky is very observant and picks up on visual cues quickly. He’s already doing great with his training touch, sit , down , here, follow , walk w me, and great with potty training and sleeps through the night in a crate .
Ideal Home
Milky will thrive in a home that understands or is excited to learn about the beautiful bond of raising a deaf dog. Because he loves to play and gets along so well with other dogs, a home with a friendly canine sibling would be fantastic for him, though he’d also excel as a cherished only dog with plenty of playdates. As with all dogs , especially those who are deaf, love, patience, learning to understand his patterns and practice his skills and the gift of time are important in helping him adjust to his new home and learn to love his new family.
