Blaze- LA – Deaf Dogs Rock

Meet adoptable deaf dog Blaze who is looking for a safe and loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, become her new best friend, make her a member of a family and always keep her safe.

Blaze is a 2-year-old deaf sweetheart with a gentle personality and a whole lot of love waiting for the right person. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to find a family who will give her the time and security she needs to blossom.

Blaze can be a little shy when she first meets you, and when you know her story, it’s easy to understand why. She spent her entire life in one home before being surrendered to the shelter with her two siblings. Their family simply had more animals than they could continue to care for, so through no fault of her own, Blaze suddenly found herself experiencing an entirely new environment.

Once Blaze begins to feel comfortable, you’ll discover a sweet, affectionate girl who enjoys being close to her people. She’s curious about the world around her and loves using her nose to explore all the interesting scents and places she encounters.

Blaze has also lived with several other dogs and gets along wonderfully with her canine friends. She’s just as happy joining in for some playtime as she is settling down for a peaceful nap alongside another dog.

Being deaf is simply one part of who Blaze is. She may experience the world a little differently, but she doesn’t need sound to enjoy life or form meaningful connections. She pays attention to the world around her and has so much potential to continue learning how to communicate through visual cues and other forms of positive training.

Blaze is currently heartworm positive and will need appropriate treatment and veterinary care, but her diagnosis hasn’t taken away her sweetness or her desire to experience everything life has to offer.

For Blaze, the perfect family isn’t necessarily the loudest or busiest one—it’s the one willing to give a shy girl a little patience, help her feel safe, and then enjoy watching her personality emerge.

If you’re looking for a gentle, dog-friendly, loyal companion and you’re willing to give her the chance to learn that she’s home for good, Blaze may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.

Blaze is available for adoption at the Plaquemines Campus at 455 F. Edward Hebert Blvd in Belle Chasse. We are open Tuesday-Saturday 10-5. For any questions, please call 504-934-6931 or email plaqueminescampus@laspca.org.
