Scratching, Allergies, Histamine & More: This Month’s Dog Health Highlights

Lately, my inbox has been overflowing with messages from people whose dogs have been struggling with allergies and itchy skin. Some dogs have been suffering for years!

I hear: “We tried everything and nothing worked,” and then, a few weeks into the allergy and itchy-dog course I created, they write me again: “My dog is finally sleeping through the night instead of scratching, licking and pacing.”

One dog parent emailed us her dog’s chronic rash cleared in a little more than a week after changing the approach and going with what I recommended.

Reading this made me so happy and even more fired up to share and empower you and this one of its kind community.

In case you missed some of the past month’s new content here are this month’s key highlights.

Are Fermented Foods Good for Allergic Dogs and in general?

In this article, I discuss:

The night and day difference between kimchi, sauerkraut (lactobacillus based fermentation), and Saccharomyces we use for fermenting supplements.

Why some fermentation processes reduce histamine levels in allergic dogs. It will surprise you.

The Safer Way to Protect Your Dog from Fleas and Ticks

Yes, the flea season is here. Here is a refresher on why you need to stop chemical flea and tick control. The issue is solved. You may just not know about it and I am to be blamed because I don’t share this often enough.

Dogs are dying and people need to know they don’t have to.

I don’t really understand how and why these products are still allowed to be sold. The only way we can take action is not to buy them.

Why I Created MitoBoost (and MitoBoost H+)

Long before a disease, symptoms appear, the body shows signs of aging. Every cell, every organ, every joint runs on energy produced by mitochondria, the tiny power plants inside each cell, using a molecule called NAD.

As dogs (and we) age, NAD levels drop by about half by middle age, and mitochondria simply get less efficient. Muscles weaken. Healing slows. Fatigue creeps in.

Naturally, most people would wonder, if NAD can’t be supplemented. Unfortunately this substance is unstable, hence scientist had to look for another solution – supplementing the precursor called NMN, which the body uses to create NAD.

What’s Actually In It

MitoBoost pairs two nutrients that work as a team:

NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) – the raw material cells use to rebuild NAD, so mitochondria have fuel to work with again.

TMG (trimethylglycine) – the part almost everyone else leaves out. Raising NAD with NMN alone creates extra demand on the body’s methylation system, the pathway responsible for detox, DNA repair, and mood balance.

TMG replenishes what that process uses up, so the whole system stays in balance instead of just revving one engine and starving another.

I sourced both from the Netherlands and Austria – plant-based, naturally fermented, never the synthetic, China-produced NMN that dominates most of the market.

Every batch is third-party tested, and it ships in glass to avoid microplastics. As far as I know, MitoBoost is still the only formula combining European-sourced NMN and TMG in a true 1:1 ratio, for dogs or for people.

There is much research now on the broad benefits of NMN but I wanted to see the results on my own. A few years ago, I ran a 12-week trial with 23 mostly senior dogs.

The guardians reported better mobility, better mood, deeper sleep, and in a few geriatric dogs already showing early signs of dementia, more engagement and alertness. A few dogs had brief, mild detox responses such as short bout of loose stool, which in integrative medicine we tend to read as the body’s own repair systems switching back on.

I’ve been giving it to my own dog, Pax, since he turned six last summer. Knock on wood, he shows no signs of slowing down.

And for the Humans in the House

The same biology applies to us. NAD decline is one of the quieter threads running through aging – connected to energy, DNA repair, and how well we recover. That’s why MitoBoost H+ exists: the same NMN + TMG, same sourcing standards, formulated for people 35 and older, taken sublingually for better absorption.

If you’ve tried MitoBoost or MitoBoost H+ and it’s made a difference, I’d love to hear about it – and if you’re curious whether it’s right for your dog (or for you), you can read more about the science and the sourcing here:
