Dreama-IN – Deaf Dogs Rock

From her shelter advocate:

DREAMA | Young Deaf Hound Mix | Jeffersonville Animal Shelter

Dreama is a young, small-to-medium hound-looking mix who is thought to be around a year old or younger. Her exact weight has not been provided, though she is estimated to weigh no more than about 40 pounds. She was found at Deam Lake and brought to Jeffersonville Animal Shelter. (located at 201 Willinger Lane, Jeffersonville, IN 47130 – Phone – 812-282-0071).

Dreama appears to be completely deaf, and she may also have limited or no vision in her left eye. Despite those challenges, she navigates walks easily and is very manageable on leash. She is exceptionally friendly, good-natured, affectionate, and eager to engage with people. She loves physical touch, enjoys a good round of zoomies, and has medium to high energy.

Through the fence, Dreama has shown friendly, playful body language toward other dogs and appears eager to interact with them.

Dreama does not appear to have been taught hand signals or other visual cues. She would benefit greatly from a rescue, foster, or adopter who has experience with deaf dogs or is prepared to teach her through consistent, positive visual-cue training. She is attentive to people and seems eager to please, which should give her an excellent foundation for learning.

Dreama is an affable, joyful young dog who appears ready to form a close bond with someone willing to help her understand the world.
