Meet adoptable deaf one year old Quigley who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish him, make daily positive reinforcement training/socialization/enrichment a priority and always keep him safe.
From his advocate: Quigley is a sweet, cuddly, loving Border Collie/Aussie mix that turned up in his current guardian’s neighborhood mid-June 2026. He was probably abandoned. His temporary guardian followed all the protocol for lost dogs and she is now trying to find him a good home. Colorado Herding Dogs Assoc. wants to help too!
Quigley seems to be profoundly or mostly deaf, but he is easy to train with thumbs up mark and hand signs followed by high value treats. He knows/is working on: Sit, Lie Down, Stay, Wait, No, Come, All done, Touch and Leave it. He walks well on leash and we are using a gentle nose leader on him. Quigley is also learning to fetch a ball and drop it.
Quigley has shown signs of past abuse and neglect and he is afraid of sticks, brooms, sprinklers, hair brushes, the vacuum and being left alone or locked out. His savior guardian has been working through his fears slowly and she is able to finally bathe and brush him, walk past a sprinkler, etc.
Quigley is a smart dog that needs a job! If left to his own devices, he collects and makes piles of shoes, laundry, and he gets into mischief. Quigley is a loving dog and he will make a good match for an experienced herding breed dog owner who will continue his training with patience and love.
Quigley is very eager to please and he loves people, learning, and working. He loves other larger dogs and children 8+. Small animals and cats he wants to chase, working on leave it but he would be best in a home with no other small animals. He was neutered on 7/23/26.
Heather, his temporary guardian, is keeping him safe and she has begun training him.
His ideal dream home would be with a family with children, where someone is home often to give him love, patient attention, and show him a regular routine. An experienced dog owner, familiar with the demands of this intelligent working breed would go far. He does best alongside a medium-large hearing dog or two. This is an opportunity for doing meaningful work alongside his people on a working ranch, agility training, or in a rural setting would be a dream come true for him and his foster family!
Quigley’s adoption fee is $150 to a screened and approved home. He is also available for foster to adopt.
