Cassie is a one year old Shepherd mix and was found running through farmland when a local rescuer was able to coax her into her car and take her to safety.
Surprisingly, during her check up at the vets they discovered that she actually had a registered microchip, so they were able to track down her owners and asked them to come and collect her.
But of course, had the story ended positively, then Cassie wouldn’t be on our website. Sadly, her family said they didn’t want her anymore as she was too energetic, and that the rescuer could rehome her.
There was no sense of remorse or accountability, they just gave her away and moved on with their lives.
Cassie is a shepherd mix and she is indeed an energetic, active and highly intelligent young dog. She’s estimated to be just under a year old, and she is always raring to get outside and go on an adventure.
Right now, she’s in private kennels where she’s safe and sound until she finds her forever home, but she needs more exercise and enrichment than they can offer her, and as a result whenever she goes out for a run in the yard she is like a coiled spring.
Cassie is looking for a family who have had high energy dogs before and can give her the physical and mental outlets that she needs to thrive. She is so, so loyal and bonds with people very quickly.
She’s extremely keen to please and eager to learn, and as she’s so food motivated this makes the perfect reward!
Cassie would be best suited to a home outside of the city with an active family who enjoy running, exploring and just generally being outdoors.
When her needs are met, like any dog, Cassie is a bundle of love and loves hanging out with people. She’s also great with other dogs, especially those of a similar energy level to her, and she loves racing around in the grass with them.
She would also be best suited to a home with a reasonable size garden, as she really likes being outdoors.
Cassie may be young and bouncy, but she also has lots of love to give. She is the perfect dog for someone seeking a best friend, adventure partner and a companion that they can train.
