Walter is a 4-year-old male Cross-Breed. He is a medium-sized dog weighing 26kg and is currently in North Lanarkshire, Scotland.
He is sadly searching for a new home after his owner experienced a serious health emergency and can no longer care for him.
Walter forms very strong bonds with his person and is described as incredibly cuddly and loving once he knows you. He and his previous owner were especially close, which makes this change particularly difficult for him.
Because of this, he can feel anxious around new people and unfamiliar dogs.
His anxiety can sometimes show itself as reactive behaviour. On one occasion, he redirected his fear and did use his teeth on his adopter, which highlights that he needs understanding and careful management.
He can also be startled by sudden movements, which can add to his worries in new situations.
Despite this, Walter is not without his softer and more social side. He can be super friendly with other dogs and is able to play very nicely with them. With the right introductions and calm guidance, he has the potential to enjoy canine company.
Walter’s ideal home would be an adult-only environment. He needs patient people who are willing to give him a second chance and help him feel safe again. A calm household with a steady routine would help him build confidence over time.
One of Walter’s absolute favourite activities is running around in a secure field. In these safe spaces, he recalls beautifully and clearly enjoys the freedom to move. This kind of outlet will be important for his wellbeing and happiness.
