❤️ Meet Keeka — Our Super-Happy, Handsome Boy Who’s Been Waiting Far Too Long!
Keeka is one of those dogs who makes you smile the moment you meet him. A wonderfully affectionate, cheerful and slightly scruffy boy, Keeka is a very unusual mix of Irish Red Setter and Hound, and what a lovely combination he is! Medium in height and beautifully soft-coated in rich chestnut, Keeka has a gorgeous face, soulful eyes and a personality to match. He is a happy, friendly and playful boy who simply loves being around people and other dogs.
Keeka has been waiting in rescue for far longer than we would like, why we have no idea as he is the perfect addition to any family and we really hope his special person is out there. He has so much love, fun and companionship to offer.
Keeka is an absolute sweetheart. He has a naturally cheerful disposition and seems to approach life with a big smile.

Keeka’s happy nature is infectious, and he really does seem to love life. He’s the sort of dog who wants to be involved, have fun and be part of his family’s adventures.
He would really love a home that will give his clever mind something to do a he is an intelligent boy, eager to please and very keen to interact with his human, so we think he would absolutely thrive with a hobby of his own. Agility, scent work, trick training or another fun dog activity could be wonderful for him. It wouldn’t just be about keeping him busy. We think learning together would help Keeka and his family develop that really special bond, the kind that comes from spending time together, working things out, having fun and discovering what you can achieve as a team as he has the enthusiasm and personality to make training a lot of fun!
The home we’re looking for would be an active young family who wants a happy, affectionate companion and is prepared to give him plenty of exercise, stimulation and attention. A home he would particularly enjoy is one where he has plenty of opportunities for walks, play, training and adventures. He would love a human who wants to do things with him, rather than simply have him around.
We think Keeka would enjoy living with another friendly, playful dog, also he could be very happy as an only dog with a young, active family who can give him plenty of interaction and companionship, and children over 8 years.
Keeka has a mild prey drive, so this should be taken into consideration when choosing his home and when out and about.
He has been cat tested. Initially he showed little interest, but on a second test he became much more interested, so we cannot currently say that Keeka is cat safe. For that reason, a home without cats would be preferable.

Before being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas.
If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young, then the new owners will need to ensure this is done and proof sent to us once complete. All dogs are microchipped

All new owners will need to change their new dogs microchip information to their contact details. DogwatchUk does this on your behalf so that we know that its been done.
All our adoptions are subject to successful homechecks which are carried out via a video call. There is now a deposit for all homechecks of £25 which is deducted from the adoption fee.
The adoption fee is paid via bank transfer to the UK (or Paypal) and covers the cost of passport, bloods, microchip, vaccines and neutering (if over 6 months) also transport costs/taxes from Spain to the UK.
If you are adopting a UK dog then the process is still the same but there will be no bloods or passport or transport costs.
If the homecheck fails the £25 will be reimbursed.
If the application is withdraw after the homecheck this is non refundable.
Our checker will be given your details to contact you. All homechecks are now conducted virtually and will be undertaken via video call (using skype, zoom or equivalent).

We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.
Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
