Meet Mallard who is an adoptable deaf, 16 month old Catahoula Leopard dog mix (or maybe a Husky mix) who is looking for a kind and loving forever home.

Mallard is one of those dogs who seems to believe that life is meant to be lived loudly, joyfully, and with as much mud as possible!
We pulled Mallard from a shelter in Middle Georgia, where he was facing euthanasia, and he has been safely in our care since April 22, 2026. He arrived heartworm positive, but he has now successfully completed his heartworm treatment and is ready to focus on the fun part of life: finding his forever family!

Mallard is deaf, but don’t let that stop you from considering this incredibly special boy. He is smart, engaged, treat-motivated, and eager to interact with his people. He absolutely loves treats and toys, which makes us confident that he will be a fun and willing student for someone who is ready to teach him through hand signals and positive reinforcement.
And then there are the DOGS. Mallard is a very dog-friendly guy who loves having canine friends to play with. His preferred play style is best described as rough, rowdy, goofy, and muddy! He loves wrestling, zooming around, rolling in the mud with his buddies, and generally having the best time possible. If your dog enjoys an enthusiastic playmate, Mallard might be their new best friend.

He has also had wonderful experiences with children and school groups, and he has done wonderfully with everyone he has met. Mallard has gone on multiple “Doggy Day Outs” and has come back with glowing report cards each time. He’s shown us again and again that he is a fun, social, adaptable guy who is ready to experience life alongside his people.
Mallard is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives, and—thanks to the incredible generosity of a donor—his adoption fee has been sponsored!
What Mallard needs now is someone who will see his deafness not as a limitation, but simply as one of the things that makes him Mallard. He has so much personality, so much enthusiasm, and so much love to give.
If you’re looking for a goofy, playful, toy-loving, treat-motivated adventure buddy who will happily get muddy with his friends and then come back for more, Mallard may be your guy.
