Today is about remembering and racing. We remember and honor the military personnel who died while serving in the military for our country. They are never to be forgotten. Many places honor the lost by placing flags on all the graves of those who have lost their lives protecting our country.
For many, racing is a big part of the holiday today with the Indy 500. This race has been run on Memorial Day since 1911. Olivia and Nelson visited the track last fall and saw some interesting history.
Some other sites they saw around the actual race track and nearby in the parking area are the checkered fire hydrants, fun street signs about the town, the water tower, entrance to the speedway, and the tower. We are looking forward to a quiet day of relaxing after a big birthday weekend for Gramma.
