Happy Napping Day! Did you know today is that day? Don’t fall asleep on us, finish checking out our post first! This day was created as a way to compensate for the hour we all lose because of the time change (except for the lucky ducks in Arizona). I think this is one holiday that pretty much everyone can get behind.
When it comes to napping, I’m probably the biggest napper in the family, mainly because I’m older. We read that adult dogs get six to eight hours of sleep during the night, and then we nap another four to eight hours throughout the day. Most of my day is spent in my favorite cozy bed next to Mom’s desk in our office. She works at her desk most days and I get to be close to her while I’m sleeping. Sometimes I even talk during my naps.
Olivia naps quite a bit too but she moves around. Sometimes she is in the wicker den in the office, sometimes in the soft bed next to it and once and a while she will be on the fur bed on the couch in the living room.
Nelson naps the least and is also the youngest. Most of the time he prefers to nap on a harder surface like the office bench, or the floor. He naps a lot on the ottoman in the living room as he has a view of a lot of things from there.
There are so many good spots for a snooze at our house but the very best naps are when we are all napping together in Mom’s office (aka motivation center) while she works. It gives us all a super cozy feeling. Sometimes Mom even lays on the floor with her head on my bed and takes what she calls a power nap for ten minutes. Studies have shown that one or more short naps during the day can help increase productivity and alertness. She agrees with the finding. Happy Napping!
