Meet adoptable, deaf, 1.5 year old Australian Shepherd Poppy who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, become her new best friend and always keep her safe.

From her caregiver: Poppy is a very spunky girl that turns into a cuddle bug as soon as she is able to sit or lay down near her humans. She’s great with cats, chickens and other dogs (and probably anything else).
She may be a bit overzealous near playing children, but has impeccable manners once they settle down inside the house. With a bit more training and exposure, she should stop jumping on her favorite humans, including children, when she first greets them or while playing with them outside.

She is wonderful for grooming, bathing and brushing and nail trims are a breeze! She’s a bit unkempt at the moment, as winter in Washington is just muddy 24/7.
She does have a very tiny bit of hearing if it is loud enough and high pitched. She has some vision issues as well, but is not blind. She CAN follow hand signals, IF you can get her to look at you. (I’d highly recommend gentle e-collar use)
She was saved from being euthanized due to someone breeding double merles. She is VERY smart and truly a joy to be around. Fun fact… She likes to smile at people, especially her favorite people, as a greeting. She’s a diamond in the rough, but would be totally worth the effort to finish her training.

She is completely housebroken, crate trained, eats well, will sit next to you quietly, sleep on your bed, and has low prey drive. Her leash skills are a bit rough and will need to be worked on. She will tell you when she needs to go out or if her needs are not being met. Her only “bad” point is that she is totally a Velcro dog. You will never be allowed to go to the bathroom, or anywhere else, alone again!
She has papers saying she is a purebred Australian Shepherd, but looks like she may have some border collie in my opinion. She was rescued by a person with disabilities and she just does not have the ability to continue her training. She has her birth papers, vaccine records, and spay information that come with her!
She really is a ray of sunshine and great for making any bad day into a great day with her enthusiasm and snuggle demands. We are quite picky on finding her the best possible home!
There are no cell towers near our home, so we need to use Wi-Fi calling which can be spotty. It is best to text or email to make arrangements for meeting Poppy. If you need to speak to us in person on the phone, if you message us we can make sure that we are close to the router to have the best possible phone call (564) 544-9309
Poppy’s adoption fee is $250 and you must live within 120 miles of Montesano WA to be considered for adoption (maybe slightly negotiable for the right family if you live closer to Seattle, WA).
