Visiting The World Snow Celebration In Stillwater

Visiting The World Snow Celebration In StillwaterMom took me to see the World Snow Celebration snow sculptures in Stillwater the other day when it was sunny and warmer out, plus three degrees Fahrenheit. The competition was the weekend before we went but everything stays there for two weeks. Sixteen countries compete to be the best! The event takes place in Lowell Park right along the St. Croix river. Let me show you some of the sculptures we saw.

My GBGV Life USA sculptureFrom the good old USA, we have Call to Arms.

My GBGV Life Forgotten FeastNew Zealand created Forgotten Feast. We think it is kind of weird but since we recently did Barn Hunt, Mom photographed it because of the giant rats.

My GBGV Life Mexico sculptureThis one from Mexico is kind of cute with the astronaut. It is called Tripping.

My GBGV Life EcuadorEcuador came up with Organic Geometry. Mom and I were not very impressed.

My GBGV Life Visiting The World Snow Celebration In StillwaterOur vote for the most fun sculpture comes from Lithuania, called Let’s Play. All the balls falling out of the box is a cool effect.

My GBGV Life tortoise and hareFor me and Mom the Tortoise and The Hare is our favorite, super cute!

My GBGV Life tortoise and hare other sideHere is the other side. That is one funny hare, don’t you think? Thank you to Great Britain for this one.

My GBGV Life 2nd place overallThe second place sculpture was made by Mongolia. We think it looks like it belongs in Wyoming. Now we wonder, does Mongolia have cowboys?

My GBGV Life Visiting The World Snow Celebration In StillwaterFirst place goes to our neighbor, Canada. It’s title is The Inosculation of Souls. We are not wowed by it but the detail is pretty darn good! Don’t feel bad if you don’t know what inosculation means. We had to google it.

My GBGV Life StillwaterStillwater did good with the World Snow Celebration this year. It is our first time going. Usually we go to the ice carving in St. Paul but we wanted to do something different. On a weekday in the morning when it is very cold out is an ideal time to come and see the sculptures. We would never go when it is crowded. Hope you enjoyed seeing some of the fun sculptures. We photographed half of them, some were not good as photos and some we felt were just plain ugly to be honest.

I’m joining my friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
