Meet adoptable deaf 3 year old Sky who is looking for a loving home with someone who will provide structure, patience and daily positive reinforcement training to help her be the best she can be in her new home.
From her caregiver: I have a deaf dog named sky, I rescued from euthanasia last may, I am currently in a change of living situations and needs a home/rescue that can provide her the care she needs. She has fixation issues with corners, for example in a cage she will jump at and fixate on the corners. She knows a few hand signals and is somewhat potty trained, sometimes signaling she has to potty and sometimes just going in house. She does bark in the cage but is usually calm outside of the cage. She is kid friendly , she has been around babies and toddlers under 3 since I’ve owned her. Male selective and barrier reactive, her behavior in cage is more intense than outside of the cage where she is a sweetheart. Highly food motivated she will eat just about everything, she loves to wait while I cut veggies so she can have scraps. She loves to be around you, she will happily follow you around all day. Would do best in a quiet home where she can be outside of her cage as it causes her stress. She does have a tendency to chase moving objects, for example on walks she tries to dart at cars and kids riding cars she will go for the tires. She does well with my male dogs. She can be pushy and rowdy with play.
Sky can be picky about toys when I got her she wouldn’t play at all, she does really like boxes and plastic bottles that she can destroy. Seems to prefer more submissive dogs to be around as she and my female corso didn’t get along.The hand signals she knows is sit, calm down, quiet, come, and go. I give her pets and make clapping hands to praise her and show I’m happy to see her, She usually responds with happy stomps. She is a very sweet girl who needs lots of patience as she adjusts. I practiced the 333 rule with her and it honestly took around 4/5 months for her to adjust fully. She honestly can be mischievous she has a habit of stealing my nieces and nephews slippers. She has torn up my carpet when she was alone in her cage ( a standard wire cage) so I bought her a heavy duty cage that she can’t break as she was destroying the tray and hurting herself breaking out the cage.
She also has a tendency to nip at your hands it has gotten better the last few months. She hates her ears being touched , is tolerant of her nails being clipped but not long these two situations is when she is most likely to nip at your hands because she isn’t comfortable with it. Birthday is the day I adopted her with her approx age the shelter told me she was around 3 last year so she’ll be 4ish this year.
I included a picture from when I first got her to show how far she has come from when I adopted her from Texas, she has really irritated skin and bad hair loss and was really skinny. She is a good dog who has had a rough go at life.

She was found running down a freeway in Texas and was going to be euthanized before I saw her on TikTok. I really want her to have a chance because she deserves it.
Sky’s adoption fee is $150 to a screened and approved home only.
