Meet Mason, a 4 year old male Newfoundland cross Belgian Malinois Cross who is large in size and has a sensitive nature with lots of love to give once he builds trust.
Mason was born in approximately April 2021. He weighs around 30 kilograms and appears to have Newfoundland and Belgian Malinois heritage.
Mason is a handsome golden boy with a gentle soul. He is affectionate, a little goofy, intelligent, and sometimes charmingly stubborn.
What Mason is like at home
With the people he knows and trusts, Mason is a gentle and loving presence. He likes to sit nearby, enjoys calm affection when fully awake, and finds comfort in being close to his people.
He is very food motivated, which makes training enjoyable and effective, and he gets excited when the lead comes out, as walks are one of his favourite activities.
Mason can be wary of strangers at first. He may bark and keep his distance until he has had a chance to assess the situation. Once he realises someone is safe, he relaxes and shows his friendly, tail-wagging side.
Social life
With other dogs: Mason is very friendly and enthusiastic. He enjoys meeting other dogs, approaches with excitement, and loves a good sniff. He may attempt to mount, so continued training and guidance will help him learn polite greetings.
With cats: Mason is not suitable to live with cats, as he will bark and attempt to chase.
With visitors: Mason finds unfamiliar people overwhelming and will bark and retreat if approached.
Around noise: Loud or sudden noises can worry him, and he will look to move somewhere quieter.

Behaviour and training needs
Mason can be reactive in certain situations, especially if startled when asleep or approached while tired. He needs patient guardians who can read his signals, give him space when needed, and continue building his confidence using positive methods.
He can be stubborn, particularly if he is comfortable or wants to go a different direction on a walk, but he responds well to calm and consistent guidance.
Health and grooming
Mason sheds lightly throughout the year, with heavier seasonal moults, so regular brushing is needed. He may experience mild skin irritation after running through long grass, which can be managed with seasonal allergy tablets.
Mason’s ideal home
Mason will thrive in a home that can offer experienced adult owners who understand reactive or sensitive dogs, a calm and predictable environment, and a secure garden. Another friendly dog could be beneficial for companionship, but this is not essential.
Why Mason is worth it
Mason is a wonderful dog with great potential. With the right home, patience, and understanding, he will form a deep bond and show his affectionate and playful nature. He is loyal, intelligent, food motivated, and eager to be part of a stable and loving home where he feels safe.
If you have experience with reactive dogs and can provide the steady environment Mason needs, he will reward you with trust, companionship, and plenty of golden-furred affection.
