Meet adoptable deaf 5.5 year old Dalmatian Cattle dog mix Blueberry who is looking for a very special home with someone who will cherish him, become his very best friend and always keep him safe. He is looking for a home where he is the only pet. He is house trained, crate trained, neutered and knows several sign cues.

From his rescue advocate:
Blueberry is looking for his forever home — can you please help him find his future human(s)
Blueberry was rescued from a shelter in SoCal and is being fostered in Oregon. He’s sweet, friendly, and a little quirky.. He is estimated to be about 5.5 years old, 52 lbs and has a lot of energy — perfect for someone that wants an active dog companion that’s past the puppy stage.

Blueberry enjoys long walks and playing with food toys. He particularly likes the orange omega treat ball — he’s even figured out how to pick it up in his mouth and back out of the corner with it when it gets stuck. The blue cow tug toy is a new favorite for tugging and playing! Don’t forget his snuffle mat!
Blue is great at settling in the crate and now he goes in right away when I get a frozen toy. He’s deaf so he can nap in the crate in another room (or while you’re at work, etc) and household noises won’t bother him. He has a good foundation with hand signals, sit, down, good boy: is great with accepting a harness, and has been improving with impulse control. He is newly working on a scratch board for his toenails.

He would prefer to follow his humans around all day but has been doing a great job of learning to settle with food toys in the crate. Sometimes he sleeps soundly (he doesn’t wake up to household noises) and he responds well to being woken up gently. Blueberry is a genuinely happy pup — he greets you with smiles and wiggles.
Blueberry enjoys exploring the neighborhood and could easily walk for hours. He has improved a lot with his loose leash walking and only occasionally pulls when he gets excited.

He may have a bit of a prey drive (re: squirrels, deer) and would need careful introductions to other pets (cats, chickens, etc.).
He would do well as an only dog. Blueberry is dog friendly but sometimes has strong emotions about other dogs (usually excitement). He may have some challenges understanding when another dog says no, since he’s unable to hear them. Slow introductions are key.
He’s potty trained and hasn’t made any messes in the crate. He’s neutered, up to date on vaccines and has had lab work done.
A fenced yard would be great so that he has a safe space to run but he’s also doing well with lots of neighborhood walks.
