7 year old male Miniature Poodle available for adoption

Boysie is a 7 year old male Miniature Poodle currently being fostered in an adult-only home in Gloucestershire with other dogs.

Boysie came into rescue alongside five other dogs from a breeder who has now stopped breeding. He has lived a very sheltered life, surrounded by multiple dogs in a quiet rural environment.

That first overwhelming day

Although he shares a similar background to the other dogs, Boysie appears to have had a little more exposure to the outside world. He is confident on the lead, enjoys his walks, and travels well in the car.

Out on a walk

He is settling in nicely—sleeping in his crate in the bedroom at night, and his house training is coming along well. He has met other dogs and is very relaxed and nonchalant around them.

Boysie is a very affectionate little dog who loves to be close to his people and soak up attention. He has also been left for a few hours and coped well, with no issues.

He thoroughly enjoyed his visit to a secure field, where he was able to explore and relax at his own pace. He gets on well with the other dogs in his foster home and will often lie alongside them, although he hasn’t yet shown interest in play.

He loved being over the field

Boysie has been to the vets for a full health check and to begin his vaccinations. He was also treated for an ear infection. When he returned a week later, the infection hadn’t improved as much as hoped, so treatment was restarted.

He has now been neutered and underwent a much-needed dental. Sadly, his dental issues were severe—he had only six teeth remaining, all of which had to be removed due to significant infection.

He is now on two courses of antibiotics and will return to the vets in two weeks for a further check.

On a positive note, Boysie gained 0.3kg in under a week, an encouraging sign. It’s likely he has been living with considerable pain, but he is now recovering well in his foster home.

We’re very much looking forward to seeing a pain-free Boysie emerge as his body heals and responds to treatment.

The home Boysie needs.

Boysie will need a special, understanding home with previous experience of rescue dogs. He would benefit greatly from living with another calm, gentle dog of a similar size who can offer reassurance and quiet companionship.

Because he enjoys his walks and the field so much, his new family should be active enough to offer this; he is not just a lap dog.

An adult-only, peaceful home is essential, where his new family will continue the patient, kind approach his foster carer has given him, gradually introducing him to the world without overwhelming him, allowing his confidence to continue to grow.
