Mally, male, born 2020, is a 34kg Boxer-Rottweiler cross who is almost completely blind.
He is currently living with a dog trainer in Romania, but transport to the adopter’s home is included in the adoption fee with Blind Dog Rescue UK.
Mally is generally good with dogs, but can be dominant with unneutered males. He is not reactive to them on walks. The ideal home is with a female dog, or as an only dog.
It is not known how Mally is with cats. He met some cats, but they have all run away from him.
Mally has met young children and behaved beautifully, however due to his size and the fact he can be clumsy, we would recommend children and teenagers 14+
Character/ background:
Gentle giant Mally is very human-centric and affectionate and loves to be loved.
He has degenerative eye atrophy and cataracts in both eyes. He can currently see close in front of him, but may lose this sight over time. He doesn’t care at all and lives a full, active life!
Mally was rescued from a Romanian high-kill shelter, but now lives with a dog trainer and 14 other dogs, neutered males and females of various ages and sizes. His best friend is a female Akita.
Mally walks well on a collar and lead and enjoys going out to public spaces such as shops. He has learnt several commands such as ‘stop’ and ‘heel’ and is polite, waiting for his walker if you stop.
He is used to living indoors. He travels well and always attracts attention when he is outside with his lovely waggy tail and happy nature.
Mally isn’t everyone’s ideal of a beautiful dog, but he has a beautiful heart. A true gentle giant with tons of love to give.
